November’s Interpreter Spotlight shines bright on one of our Cincinnati interpreters, Sandy Winston.
Sandy joined Vocalink four years ago and has been doing Medical interpreting in various facilities for us during that time. Prior to joining Vocalink Sandy worked as a Medical Technologist for over thirty years doing hospital lab work at Christ Hospital and the Health Alliance. Since 2008, she has traveled to Juarez, Mexico to do part-time mission work. During the course of a year she travels there about 3 times to help a Mexican doctor in his clinic.
While helping there she takes vital signs and fill prescriptions in the pharmacy.
When asked what she likes most about being an interpreter Sandy said, “I enjoy meeting all of the families that I work with. I feel compassion for the patients and I try to be an advocate for them.” In her future plans she hopes to be able to continue to be an interpreter. Working for Vocalink gives her the ability to have a flexible schedule and work close to her home.
This month she will celebrate 40 years of marriage. Sandy has two sons, aged 31. We adopted one of our sons as a baby from El Salvador. The other son is biological.
Please help us congratulate Sandy on her successful career and being named the Spotlight Interpreter!
