On December 4-6 & 12-13, Vocalink starts another The Community Interpreter (TCI) training class in Dayton, OH. Led by a certified trainer, TCI is a unique program that offers an exciting, comprehensive foundation program in community interpreting.
If you would like to be part of this class please call our office today at 877-492-7754 or visit our website for more details.
TCI is nationally recognized and can be taken by existing or new interpreters. Other training programs might only train for medical interpreting but TCI thoroughly trains for medical, educational, human, and social services interpreting.
Not only does TCI cover protocol and expectations, but it places a huge emphasis on standards and ethics pertaining to unique situations. TCI also includes interactive activities and chances to talk to other interpreters in the field.
The program uses such models as the five steps for mediation (intervention); three steps for “how to say no”; CHIA ethical decision-making guidelines; and a unique cultural mediation model to help interpreters to think on their feet when they face challenges. The program incorporates intense practice sessions (skills building and role plays) into each of the five days, with a wide array of role plays and supplementary activities for trainers to select from according to their audience.
In short, TCI is constantly updated to fit the changing climate of interpreting, is a credible source for professionalism and ethics, and is the most useful tool for interpreters in any setting. TCI is a beneficial investment both of time and money. Vocalink encourages you to schedule your training course soon after the onboarding process in order for you to reap the personal and professional benefits of being a Level Two interpreter.
As a company devoted to precise interpreting and translation, it is imperative for our interpreters to constantly be improving their linguistic skill.
